Strategies for Using Rubrics
- Use rubrics early in the semester to norm students to your expectations, especially on repeat assignments
- Design primary trait scales/rubrics to measure only the features you seek to observe or heighten awareness of
- Use one when it stands to provide the greatest benefit to the student and to you: at the rough draft stage
- Save a more holistic rubric/response for the end product
