What is a Scholarship? A scholarship is money awarded for academic performance that you do NOT have to pay back.

You must apply for scholarships. If you receive a scholarship, you can use the money to pay for tuition and fees.

Apply Early

Most scholarship deadlines are in March or April.

Be Aware of Scholarship Scams!

Some scholarship search engines may not be legitimate. If you see sentences like the following do NOT apply for them:

"This scholarship is guaranteed"; "You can't get this information anywhere else"; "May I have your credit card or bank account number"; "We'll do all the work"; "The scholarship will cost you some money"; You've been selected by a 'national foundation' or "You're a finalist in a contest" (that you did not enter).

Scholarship details

Many scholarships are awarded for only one academic year. You may need to reapply for the scholarship or apply for a different scholarship each year. Carefully read the details of your scholarship application. If you do not receive a scholarship the first time you apply, try again the following year.

Dale E. Fridell Memorial Scholarship

The 2009-2010 Dale E. Fridell Memorial Scholarship is open to anyone aspiring to attend a university, college, trade school, technical institute, vocational training or other post-secondary education program in the 2007-2008 academic year. In addition, eligible students may not have already been receiving or awarded a full-tuition scholarship or waiver from another source. International students are welcome to apply. $1000. Barbara Wiedner and Dorothy Vandercook Memorial Peace Scholarship

Students chosen are those who have already exhibited their commitment to peace and justice through volunteer work in their own communities, awareness of nuclear issues, and plans to use future education to help create a more peaceful and just world for all.
