History is written all over the MCC-Penn Valley Basketball Scouts. The program, started in 1967 by longtime coach Fred Pohlman, today called the A. Fred Pohlman Fieldhouse home. The name is in recognition of the long shadow Coach Pohlman left on the program -- not to mention the 600+ wins, various championship titles, and 1995-96 season national championship he brought about. Marcus Harvey has been Head Coach of the Men's Basketball team at Penn Valley for the past
three years. During this time, his teams have won two Regional Championships; two District
Championships and placed 3rd and9th in the NJCAA Division II National Tourament. Before coaching the Men's Basketball team, Harvey coached the Women's Team. Coach Harvey's record as Head Women's Coach was 234 wins and 80 loses. His teams finished 2nd; 8th; 7th; 2nd and 6th place in the National Tournaments in Danville, IL. He was named Region

Our instructors are as qualified, caring and talented as any in the country. Their commitment to breaking down complex learning materials into comprehensible information is stellar. And their dedication to creating opportunities for students, no matter where they are in life, is commendable. Simply put, our faculty develops winners in the classroom. Our athletic staff develops winners on the court. Nobody can beat our staff at moving basketball players from the ground level to national levels of competition. Our womens' and mens' basketball programs are outstanding and deserve our support. I am proud to be a part of the MCC-Penn Valley Scouts. Some winners are born winners, and that's okay. But at this campus, our winners are matured and developed, and when they win, we cheer. I appreciate the commitment of our faculty and the outstanding commitment of our coaching staff.
