Description

Precision Machining workers are machinists who use lathes, milling machines and computer numerical control (CNC) equipment to make precision metal parts. Those who have CNC skills program and operate equipment that may include machining centers, multi-axis machines and wire electric discharge machines to cut and shape metal.

In our program, you can learn to:

  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, mills and grinders
  • Write computer programs that operate automated machines
  • Apply knowledge of mechanics, shop math, metal properties, blueprint reading and manual/CNC machining procedures
  • Use Mastercam
  • Achieve NIMS certifications for certain programs
  • Get exposure to advanced CNC equipment

Our Associate in Applied Science degree will give you a solid background in machining including CNC, Mastercam, NIMS credential courses and general education courses as well as an internship. You can also choose this degree with CNC or manual emphasis. Our three certificates include a general certificate, one targeted for CNC skills or a 12-credit manufacturing prep certificate.

You'll work with the latest equipment in our state-of-the-art precision machining lab. We are a HAAS Technical Education Center (HTEC) and Mastercam software training facility. Our program is also allied with the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA).

Certifications:National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS)
