Applications will be accepted January 11th through January 25th during normal business hours for a fall start date (August), and August 1st through August 15th during normal business hours for a spring start date (January). The application period ends at 4:30 p.m. the last day of the application period.
The nursing division of MCC-Penn Valley requires all applicants to take the TEASTM (Test of Essential Academic Skills) as a part of the application process. The TEASTM is designed to determine academic readiness for the nursing program. There are minimum required scores on the TEAS for admission to the nursing program. The student will be informed of these minimum required scores at the time of testing. The TEASTM is a proctored timed examination that measures essential skills in Reading, Mathematics, Science and English and Language Usage. These are academic areas that have been identified as important skill sets for students entering a nursing curriculum. Method for determining eligibility for taking the TEASTM is outlined in the Admission Criteria document. The student should refer to that document for additional information.
There are two areas the student can utilize to prepare for take the TEASTM:
- There is a Pre-Test Study Manual for the Test of Essential Academic Skills. The study manual will be available in the MCC-Penn Valley Bookstore at a cost of $65.99. There is also an on-line study module available for $30.
- There is a practice exam available on-line at www.atitesting.com/onlinestore. The on-line examination and study manual can be purchased as a set for a price of $209.
