Course Highlights

Class Guitar I - MUSI 125 - 2 credits

Fall & Spring Semesters: TR 11:00am - 12:15pm
Open to all students interested in learning to play the guitar. Students practice technique by playing music they choose.

Class Guitar II - MUSI 126 - 2 credits

Fall & Spring Semesters: TR 11:00am - 12:15pm
Prerequisite: MUSI 125
This course is a continuation of Class Guitar I. Students use some of their favorite songs to continue improving guitar skills.

Class Piano I - MUSI 112 - 2 credits

Fall & Spring Semesters: MWF 11:00am - 11:50am
This course is for the beginning piano student. Students use MIDI keyboards and technology to learn to read and play in both treble clef and bass clef. Students will learn to play simple compositions on the piano.

Class Piano II - MUSI 113 - 2 credits

Fall & Spring Semesters: MWF 11:00am - 11:50am
Prerequisite: MUSI 112
This course is a continuation of Class Piano I. Students continue to improve their ability to sight read and play compositions on the piano. MIDI keyboards and technology will be used to practice skills.

Class Voice I - MUSI 120 - 2 credits

Fall & Spring Semesters: TR 12:30pm - 1:45pm
Learn the basics of singing in a group setting. In addition to the introduction of concepts as a group, the instructor works with students individually. Students will have the opportunity to choose songs to practice and there will be an occasion to perform for family and friends.

Course Descriptions

MUSI 112 - Class Piano I - 2.00 credits

Prerequisite: Some experience with note reading in at least one clef and with rhythmic notation is recommended. A practical approach to keyboard techniques including harmonization, transposition, and sight reading.

MUSI 113 - Class Piano II - 2.00 credits

Prerequisite: MUSI 112. Development of increased facility at the piano keyboard through mastery of elementary exercises in harmonization of melodies, sightreading, and transposition.

MUSI 120 - Class Voice I - 2.00 credits

Fundamentals of sight singing in major and minor keys. Fundamentals of correct voice production, breathing, and breath control. Elementary vocal literature in English. Development of stage presence and poise.

MUSI 125 - Class Guitar I - 2.00 credits

Open to all students interested in learning proper fundamentals of playing guitar, including improvisation.

MUSI 126 - Class Guitar II - 2.00 credits

Prerequisite: MUSI 125. Open to all students interested in further development of playing guitar, including improvisation.
