The Friends of Carter Art Center, MCC-Penn Valley, is pleased to announce the judging results of the 2008 Student Art Sale and Exhibit. All MCC-Penn Valley art students were invited to submit work in any media for the sale and exhibition. Three students received $300 Scholarship for placing Best In Show. Winners included:

• Megan Barkley – Funeral (Photography)
• Christi Patterson – Ozark (Printmaking)
• Samuel Schmidt – Pearl Dreams (Ceramics)

In addition, a Student Purchase Award was made and the work will be added to the permanent collection of the Carter Art Center Gallery. This year, Kimberly Wieson was chosen to receive the award for her ceramic piece entitled, "Lost in Copper.”

Fourteen students received honorable mentions for their work. These students included:

Friends of Carter Art Center is a volunteer organization founded in 2003 to provide financial support to the Carter Art Center Gallery and arts education programs of MCC-Penn Valley. Friends promote community awareness and involvement in art programs at the Carter Art Center.
