SERVICES FOR DEAF OR HARD-OF-HEARING STUDENTS

If you are a deaf or hard-of-hearing student, you can get interpreting services. Check with a campus Disability Support Services (DSS) office. Employees or visitors needing interpreters should contact Ashley Fagan and complete the Interpreting request form.

These professionals are ready to help:

  • Manages hiring, training and supervising MCC interpreters
  • Assists DSS offices with deaf student enrollment
  • Supports employees on deafness awareness issue

Carin Smutny-learning specialist for deaf students. For deaf students who need developmental courses, provides:

  • Conducts language assessment
  • Placement testing
  • Helps with referrals
  • Coordinates tutoring
  • Teaches developmental reading and writing in sign language
