Festival Overview

The 2012 MCC-Longview Literary Festival will be held on October 12th and 13th at the Mel Aytes Education Center. This year’s Keynote Speaker will be William Trowbridge, Missouri Poet Laureate. The festival will be hosting a Round Robin Short Story Contest in the Student Center for Longview students, staff and faculty, as well as assorted games and contests at the festival itself. This fifth annual event will feature readings, panel discussions and writing workshops as well book sales and autographs. We have lined up a wonderful guest list including authors Lewis Diuguid, Alan Spencer, Steven F. Murphy, Lindsay Martin-Bowen, Carl Rhoden, Marti Verlander and many others.   A number of groups including the Dead Horse Society, the Kansas City Science Fiction and Fantasy Society and Summit Scribes will also be there.  Our guest list is constantly growing. The festival runs from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily and is free-of-charge for all attendees. For more information contact Susan Satterfield.
