U.S. Dept. of Education awards MCC $12 million in grants
Students at Metropolitan Community College are getting a boost in support services, thanks to a $12.28 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
The grant, which is part of the Dept. of Education’s Strengthening Institutions Program, will enhance support of at-risk and underserved students across MCC’s five-campus system.
Three grants comprise the $12,284,354 total: one was awarded to MCC as an institution, one was awarded to the MCC-Blue River campus (Independence, Mo.) and one was awarded to the MCC-Penn Valley campus (Kansas City, Mo.). The funding will be distributed over a five-year period that began on Oct. 1.
